As Hollywood gears up for awards season, the Golden Raspberry Awards—better known as the Razzies—have once again spotlighted the most disappointing films and performances of the past year. Announced ahead of the Oscars, these satirical awards poke fun at cinematic flops, reminding everyone that not every film can be a masterpiece.
Leading the Pack: "Joker: Folie à Deux"
This year, "Joker: Folie à Deux" leads the nominations with seven nods, including Worst Actor for Joaquin Phoenixand Worst Actress for Lady Gaga. Despite high expectations for the sequel to 2019’s acclaimed "Joker," the film seems to have missed the mark—at least according to the Razzie voters.
Other Notable Nominees
Several other films weren’t spared from Razzie ridicule. "Borderlands," "Madame Web," "Megalopolis," and "Reagan" each earned six nominations, cementing their place in this year’s list of underwhelming movies.
Among the acting nominees:
Cate Blanchett (Worst Actress, "Borderlands")
Dakota Johnson (Worst Actress, "Madame Web")
Jack Black (Worst Actor, "Dear Santa")
Zachary Levi (Worst Actor, "Harold and the Purple Crayon")
Jerry Seinfeld (Worst Actor, "Unfrosted")
Meanwhile, Jack Black and Kevin Hart also received Worst Supporting Actor nominations for their voice roles in "Borderlands." Shia LaBeouf and Jon Voight also made the list, with Voight being recognized for multiple roles across different projects.
The Razzies Tradition
The Golden Raspberry Awards are known for their humor, presenting winners with a gold spray-painted trophy worth just $4.97. While many actors choose to ignore their Razzie nominations, some embrace the joke—like Sandra Bullock, who famously accepted her Worst Actress award in person.
When Are the "Winners" Announced?
The 2025 Razzie "winners" will be revealed on March 1, just one day before the Academy Awards. As the Oscars celebrate Hollywood’s best, the Razzies ensure the industry also laughs at its biggest missteps.
